Three Visions

I had three visions while I was driving home after having some “me” time. And by “me” time I mean I went grocery shopping without the kids.

In my first vision there was no covid-19 and the world was a dark place. People were depressed but too ashamed to talk about it. People were spending beyond their means and racking up more debt than a year’s salary. People were so busy they no longer had time to stop, slow down and smell the roses... To be thankful. People were so busy they no longer had time for God, too tired to even make it to church.

In my second vision there was covid-19 and the world was dark too. People were losing jobs, going bankrupt from the debt they were unable to pay back. We were masked and the world was going through a mental health crisis. We could no longer offer smiles even if we wanted to. Churches were forced to shut down. The swings at the park were empty. It was a dark, lonely and hurting time for so many people.

In my third vision, I saw a world that had covid-19 but then got through it. This was the most beautiful world out of all three visions I had. People started saving and stopped spending beyond their means. The world suddenly grasped the mental health crisis and realized how broken the system is. Churches opened and they were fuller than ever before. The parks were filled with kids, giggling and playing together. In this vision I was able to smile at my cashier and thank her for bagging my groceries. You see, everyone realized at the blink of an eye the world could shut down again and we started living like this was true.

These visions reminded me of God’s beauty. The way he works in beautiful yet mysterious ways. Sometimes we get too attached to life the way it is. Then something hard and painful happens and we wonder why it all went wrong, only to realize God not only was waiting for us on the other end with something even grater, He was walking with us every step of the way.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Isaiah 40:8

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Psalms 27:14

My Joy

This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my source of joy. Feeling joy while feeling sad sounds contradictory. A wonderful pastor once said...

God is our Lifeline

Imagine needing God like the way an infant in the womb is dependent on its mother, through its umbilical cord. Now imagine this infant...
